LIPEDEMA MANAGEMENT

Lipedema is a chronic condition characterised by a disproportionate increase in adipose tissue and pain in the legs (occasionally in the arms). This condition mostly affects women. The prevalence is largely unknown, evidence has indicated the onset is likely connected to hormonal changes, such as puberty, pregnancy, and menopause.

Patients suffering from lipedema will have a disproportionate increase in weight around the legs (bilaterally and usually symmetrical). This means your legs are significantly larger than your upper body. The latest research indicates this is a disorder due to abnormal fat metabolism.

Lipedema is often misunderstood and misdiagnosed.
